PROBLEMS. There is a possibility of a missed gen-
eration, given John Read's advanced age and the
absence of public service after 1741. However,
there is no other record of probate for a John
Read other than a John Read, Jr. who died by
April 1740. This date would preclude attributing
to him the legislative service from the 2nd and
3rd session of the Assembly of 1739-1741.
