Anne's Cemetery, Annapolis. PERSONAL
PROPERTY: TEV, £8,063.2.8 current money (in-
cluding 63 slaves and 104 oz. plate; 20 oz. of the
plate belonged to Mrs. Hindman's estate and 27
oz. was a legacy to his daughter Maria); FB, es-
tate overpaid £656.10.7 current money. LAND: at
least 4,837 acres in Talbot and Caroline counties
as computed from deeds, patents, and assess-
ments; actual acreage, according to surveys after
Perry's death, was 4,522 acres.

Maryland; elder son. NATIVE: probably second
generation. RESIDED: in Baltimore County. FAM-
ILY BACKGROUND. FATHER: James Phillips (?-1689)
of Baltimore County, who immigrated by 1664,
and was an innholder and planter. STEPFATHER:
Dr. Benjamin Arnold (Arnall). MOTHER: Susan-
nah (?-1708). BROTHER. Anthony (?-1698). SIS-
TERS: Mary (?-1738), who married first, by 1689,
John Carvile (ca. 1670-1709), and second, Rich-
ard Smithers (Smothers) (?-1731); Martha (?-
1746), who married in 1699 Aquila Paca (ca. 1676-
1721). MARRIED first, Bethia (?-1714), daughter
of George Utie (?-1678) and wife Susannah, step-
daughter of Mark Richardson (?-ca. 1704/5). Be-
thia was the granddaughter of Samuel Goldsmith
(?-1671). She was the niece of Nathaniel Utie (ca.
1635-ca. 1675/76); Blanche Goldsmith (?-1704),
who married George Wells (?-1696). Her brother
was George (?-1695). Her sister was Mary Ann.
MARRIED second, in 1716, Johannah (?-1735),
widow of (first name unknown) Kemp. Johannah
Kemp Phillips subsequently married Aquila Hall
(1699-1728), son of John Hall (ca. 1658-1737).
CHILDREN. SON: James (1716-?), who married in
1737 Sarah Knight. STEPSONS: John Kemp; Rich-
ard Kemp. DAUGHTERS. Bethia (1702-?); Susan-
nah (1718- 1806), who married first, George Stokes

Assembly to represent the freemen of Kent Is-
