Joint Resolution appointing a Commission
to select a site in Annapolis upon which to
erect a monument to Baron De Kalb.

WHEREAS the General Assembly has received

information from the State Department at
Washington, that the statue of Baron De Kalb
will be ready for delivery at the city of An-
napolis in the month of June next; and

WHEREAS no site has been selected whereon to
place said statue; therefore,

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, the Chief Judge
of the Court of Appeals, the Attorney- General,
the Commissioner of the Land Office, and Mr.
Frank B. Mayer, of Annapolis, be and they are
hereby appointed a Committee on behalf of the
State of Maryland to confer with the Secretary
of State of the United States respecting the
selection of a suitable site for the erection
thereon of said statue to the Baron De Kalb;
and whatever determination may be reached
by said Committee,* or a majority thereof, and
the Secretary of State of the United States in
the selection of said site shall be final and con-

clusive as to the State of Maryland, and the
Governor is hereby authorized and requested,
in compliance with the provisions of the act
of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed
at the January session, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four, chapter three hundred and thirty-
nine, to execute to the United States such as-
surance or conveyance as the laws of the United
States may require in the premises.
