Joint Resolution requesting Congress to ap-
propriate money to make a continuous naviga-
tion from Chincoteague bay, in Virginia, to
Delaware bay, at or near Lewes, Delaware.
WREREAS by an act of the Congress of the
United States, passed July fifth, eighteen
hundred and eighty-four, a survey has been
made under the direction of the War De-
partment of the United States, of Lewes
creek and Rehoboth bay, Delaware, Assa-

teague and Chincoteague bays, Maryland,
with the view to form a continuous inland
navigation from Chincoteague bay, in Vir-
ginia, to the Delaware bay, at or near Lewes,
Delaware, and a report most favorable in its
character, showing the importance to com-
merce of the work, and the small amount of
money necessary to complete it has been
submitted to the Secretary of War, by the
Engineers in charge; and

WHEREAS the importance of this projected
work to a large number of the people of this
State is apparent; therefore,

tives from this State in the Congress of the
United States, be and they are hereby urgently
requested to use all honorable means to obtain
an appropriation from Congress to prosecute
said work to completion.
