JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That we respectfully urge upon
the Congress of the United States the necessity
of making immediate provision for placing

Defence of
Sea Coast.

the Sea Coast of the country in a condition
for successful defence against a foreign enemy,
and we request our Senators and Representa-
tives from Maryland to use every legitimate
means to promo te such measures and appropria-
tions as will tend to attain the above general
object, and more especially the protection of
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries by land
fortifications and floating vessels and batteries,
of the most approved models.
