SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 499.
AN ACT for the relief of Western Maryland
College.
WHEREAS it appears that by an act of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the
January session of eighteen hundred and sev-
enty-eight, one-half of the number of scholar-
ships, being one for each county and Senatorial

|
Preamble.
|
District of the State, which had been previ-
ously provided for by the State, was directed
to and provided for at the Western Maryland
College, under the provisions of said act, and
that said College has most efficiently and faith-
fully complied with all the requirements of
the law; and
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS it appears that no provision at
the present time exists for the payment of
the tuition of said students, the same having
expired; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the Treasurer, on
the warrant of the Comptroller, be and is
hereby authorized and directed to pay to the
order of the Board of Trustees of Western
|

Maryland College the sum of thirteen hun-
dred dollars per annum, in four equal instal-
ments, on the first day of July, the first day
of October, the first day of January, and the
first day of April, in each year, on and after
the first day of July, eighteen hundred and
eighty-six, for the payment of tuition as afore-
said; provided, that the appropriation of thir-
teen hundred dollars herein mentioned, shall
