of improvements, the longer use of said lots
for burial purposes has become, or shall be-
come impracticable, said corporations may
sell, lease or transfer said property in such
manner as their interests may require or the
sanitary condition or improvements of the lo-
cality shall make most desirable.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 398.
AN ACT to compel all railroad companies
whose lines pass through Worcester county
to place cattle guards at all crossings of"
county roads or fences on farms through
which such lines pass.
SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That it shall be the duty
of all railroad companies whose lines pass-
through and are operated in Worcester county,
to construct and keep in good order cattle guards
whereon such railroad shall pass through any
enclosed lands, at such point or points where
fences now exist, or may hereafter become

necessary upon such land, as may be agreed
upon between such railroad companies and
such land owner; provided, in case of any dis-
agreement between said parties, then such dif-
ferences to be ascertained and fixed by three
disinterested land owners, to be appointed by
the Circuit Court upon the application of the
land owner, after ten days notice to the rail-
road companies; whether they be dividing
places between contiguous farms or fences
along the public highways, or division fences
belonging to the owners of the farms, said cat-
tle guards shall be of sufficient length and
width to prevent the passage of stock of all
