CHAPTER 395.
AN ACT to repeal and annul all charters for
gas companies whicli may have been granted
or issued down to the date of this act, under
the Code of Public General Laws, in Bal-
timore city, Baltimore county and Anne
Arundel county, or any other law where the
corporations incorporated by said charters
respectively have not erected works and
commenced the manufacture of gas.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That all charters for gas

companies which, down to date of this act,
may have been granted or issued under the
Code of Public General Laws, or any other
law, in Baltimore city, Baltimore county or
Anne Arundel county, be and the same are
hereby repealed, annulled and made void, ex-
cept in such cases in which the companies in-
corporated by any of such charters, shall have
erected works and commenced the manufac-
ture of gas.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 396.
AN ACT to empower the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, to regulate tenement
houses, lodging houses and cellars in the
city of Baltimore.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore be and they are hereby
authorized and directed to enact ordinances
regulating the construction, care, use and
