CHAPTER 388.
AN ACT to provide for the appropriation of a
sum of money to aid in the erection of a mon-
ument to Francis Scott Key by the Francis
Scott Key Monument Association in the city
of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the sum of fifteen
thousand dollars be and the same is hereby
appropriated to aid in the erection of a monu-
ment to Francis Scott Key in the city of Balti-
more by the Francis Scott Key Monument As-
sociation, and the Comptroller of the Treasury
is hereby authorized and directed to draw his
warrant on the Treasurer of the State for the
said sum of fifteen thousand dollars payable to
said association whenever it shall be shown to
him that the subscriptions from other sources
for this same purpose have been made and
actually paid amounting to the sum of thirty-
five thousand dollars and the work of building
said monument has been commenced; said sub-
scriptions and this appropriation to be under
the control and management of a Board of six
