HENRY LLOYD, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

the said Treasurer and Clerk shall perform all
the duties of his said office and do or have
done all the clerical work of said County Com-
missioners office, and shall receive as compen-

sation therefor the sum of one thousand dol-
lars per annum, the same to be annually levied
to his use by the said County Commissioners ;
and upon the failure, neglect, or refusal of the
Treasurer to perform any or all the duties
herein set forth as Treasurer and Clerk to the
said County Commissioners, the said Commis-
sioners or a majority of them shall notify him
in writing of his failure or neglect to perform
said duty or duties, and if he continues to neg-
lect or refuse to perform them ten days after
receiving said notice, the said County Com-
missioners shall remove the said Treasurer
from office, and immediately appoint some
other person to fill the vacancy for the residue
of the term; provided, that nothing in this
act shall be construed to impair or invalidate
the bond of the present Treasurer, or to repeal,
impair or conflict with the provisions of the
General Public Laws relating to embezzlement;
and the Commissioners shall appoint, at the
expiration of the term of office of a Treasurer,
or if removed, at the time of removal, a judi-
