LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Preamble.

WHEREAS the public interest require that
streets and alleys should be opened through
the said cemetery or burial ground, and it
has been represented to this General Assem-
bly that the corporation owning the said ceme-
tery or burial ground is willing that streets
and alleys should be opened through the same ;
therefore,

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That all provisions in any act
of the General Assembly of Maryland, prohib-
iting the opening of streets, lanes and alleys-
through the cemetery or burial ground men-
tioned in the preamble to this act, without the
assent of the General Assembly of Maryland,
be and the same are hereby repealed; and the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore may ex-

ercise in reference to opening streets and alleys-
through the said cemetery or burial ground, all
the rights and powers which the said Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore now has, or
which may hereafter be conferred upon it, in
reference to opening streets, lanes and alleys
in the said city.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That when-
ever by reason of the opening of such streets,.
lanes or alleys, or from any other cause or rea-
son whatsoever, the said cemetery, or any part
or portion thereof, shall become, in the judg-
ment of a majority of the Trustees of the cor-
poration aforesaid, unsuitable for the purposes
of sepulture, it shall become the duty of the
said corporation, and it is hereby authorized,
directed and empowered to remove all bodies
interred therein, and to reinter the same in
some other cemetery belonging to the said
corporation, and under its supervision and con-
trol; and it shall be the further duty of the
