CHAPTER 263.

AN ACT to incorporate the Mount Vernon
Charge of the Methodist Episcopal Church
of Somerset county.

SECTION 1. Re it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That John W. Reading,
William D. Jones, Samuel D. Bounds, William
T. Blake, John W. Parks and John W. Austin,
and their successors in office, forever be and

they are hereby created a body corporate, un-
der the name of the Mount Vernon Charge of
the Methodist Episcopal Church of Somerset
county, with power to use a corporate seal, if
they desire, and to be capable in law of pur-
chasing, taking and holding to them and their
successors in office, in fee, or for a less estate,
any lands, tenements or hereditaments, rents
or annuities, goods or chattels, to the value
and extent now allowed such corporations by

law, within this State, by the gift, bargain,
sale or devise of any person or body politic or
corporate, capable of making the same, and to
use or lease, mortgage or sell and convey the
same in such manner as they or their succes-
sors may judge most conducive to the interests
of this corporation.

SEC. 2. And, be it enacted, That the persons
so named shall be Trustees to manage the af-
fairs of this corporation under the corporate
name aforesaid, until the first election under
this act.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Fourth
Quarterly Conference of the said Charge of the
Methodist Episcopal Church, shall annually
elect Trustees in the place of those already

if any vacancy shall occur by death or other-
wise, the next Quarterly Conference thereafter
shall fill the same; and in making such selec-
