on the part of the said company, prescribed
and imposed by section twelve of the act en-
titled "An act to incorporate the Maryland
and Delaware Railroad Company," passed
March tenth, one thousand eight hundred and

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 261
AN ACT to repeal section seven of article
sixty, title "Marriages," of the Code of Pub-
lic General Laws, and to re-enact the same
with amendments.

re-enacted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That section seven of
article sixty of the Code of Public General
Laws, relating to "Marriage Licenses," be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so
as to read as follows :

SEC. 7. All licenses for marriage shall be
signed and issued by the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for the county where the woman resides,
or by the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas,
if she reside in the city of Baltimore, and
the Clerk shall receive therefor the sum of

one dollar, fifty cents of which to be paid into
the State Treasury, and fifty cents to be re-
tained by the Clerk for issuing same.
