SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 225.
AN ACT to appropriate the sum of fifty dol-
lars to pay Andrew J. Smoot, to reimburse
him for money paid to the Clerk of the
Superior Court of Baltimore city as tax on
his commission appointing him Tobacco In-
spector of Warehouse Number Two, in Balti-
more city, by the Governor of the State, on
the tenth day of April, eighteen hundred and
eighty-two, he having failed to get posses-
sion of the office under a decision of the
Court of Appeals.
SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the Comptroller be
