profane or indecent language, drunkenness,
fighting and disorderly conduct in said town ;
to prevent firing cannon, guns, pistols, squibbs
or any kind of fire-arms or fire-works in said
town; to prevent the running at large in said
town of horses, cattle, swine, geese, ducks,
goats and dogs; to prevent any immoderate
driving or riding through the streets of said
town with carriage, stage, cart, wagon, buggy,
sleigh, cutter or other vehicle, or on horse-
back, so as to endanger the lives, limbs or
property of the citizens, or disturb the quiet
enjoyment of the streets and thoroughfares;
and to prevent indecent exhibitions of every
kind in said town; to preserve order and se-
cure persons and property from violence,
danger or destruction; to prevent all kinds of
hunting, trapping and fishing within the
limits of said town, and may impose fines,
penalties and forfeitures for the violations of
any of said ordinances, but no fine or penalty
shall exceed the sum of one hundred dol-
lars; and all fines and penalties imposed by
said ordinances shall be collected by suit,
before a Justice of the Peace in the name of
the said Corporation as other small debts are
collected; and in case of default of payment
of said fines and penalties and costs attending
collection of the same, the offender may be
imprisoned in the county Jail for a term not
exceeding sixty days, in the same manner that
commitments are made for fines imposed by
the Circuit Court of the Judicial District in
which said town is situated, on conviction for
misdemeanor, but the said Commissioners, or a
majority of them, shall have power to remit or
release said fines, penalties, forfeitures and costs
or any part thereof, at their discretion; but
any party fined, or subject to a fine or forfeiture
may, within five days after the same shall be
