CHAPTER 173.

AN ACT to amend the charter of Pocomoke
city, in Worcester county, by adding sections
to chapter two hundred and fifty-three,
passed at the January session, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-eight, entitled an act to
repeal and re-enact sections one, two and
nine of chapter one hundred and fifty-one
of the acts of the General Assembly, passed
at the January Session, eighteen hundred
and sixty-five, entitled an act to incorporate
the town of New Town, in Worcester county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the following sec-
tions be and the same are hereby added to
chapter two hundred and fifty-three, passed
at the January session, eighteen hundred and
seventy-eight, entitled an act to repeal and

re-enact sections one, two and nine of chapter
one hundred and fifty-one of the acts of the
General Assembly, passed at the January ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and sixty-five, entitled
an act to incorporate the town of New Town,
in Worcester county, to be entitled sections
twelve, thirteen and fourteen of said chapter,
and to read as follows :

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the said
Commissioners may provide for levying and
collecting annually a tax not exceeding one
dollar on every dog, and two dollars on every
bitch, within the limits of said corporation,

and may also provide for the killing of every
dog and bitch whose owner cannot be ascer-
tained, or whose owner shall refuse to pay
said tax within thirty days after a written
notice has been delivered to said owner to pay
said tax.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the said
