Brigade.

companies; the Ringold Rifle Corps Infantry,
one company; the Leonardtown Rifles, (St.
Mary's county); the Governor's Guard, (An-
napolis); the Groome Guard, (Elkton); the
Towson Guard, (Towson ); the Bond Guard,
(Catonsville); the Kent Guard, (Kent county);
the Frederick Rifles, (Frederick county); the
Hagerstown Light Infantry, (Hagerstown) ;
the Linganore Guard, (Frederick county); the
Williamsport Light Infantry, (Washington
county); the Voltiguers and the Hamilton
Light Infantry, (Cumberland); the Garrett
Guard, (Oakland); Company D., (Frost-
burg); Lloyd Guard, (Cambridge); the Wav-
erly Guard, (Baltimore county); Howard
Zouaves, (Baltimore); Talbot County Guard,
(Talbot county); the Allegany County Guard,
( Cumberland ); the Monumental City Guard
and the Baltimore Rifles, (Baltimore); and
three companies, one from Calvert county, one
from Charles county, and one from Prince
George's county; provided, the last named three
counties organize their respective companies
according to the provisions of this act, and
report the fact of such organization to the Com-
mander-in-Chief within six months from the
date of the passage of this act; the said Balti-
more companies other than the Fifth Regi-
ment and the said Monumental City Guard
and Baltimore Rifles, and the said county com-

panies other than the Allegany County Guard,
may be formed into one or more battalions
as the Commander-in-Chief may deem best ;
and all of said battalions may be formed into
regiments if the Commander-in-Chief should
consider the same advisable; the said brigade
shall be commanded by a Brigadier-General or
the senior ranking officer, until a Brigadier-
General shall be duly elected, when said elec-
tion shall be ordered by the Commander-in-
Chief, and the head-quarters of the brigade
shall be in the city of Baltimore.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the men
composing said force shall be sworn in as pre-
