and their successors, by the above authority,
may sue and be sued, answer and be answered

in any Court of Law or Equity in this State,
and may adopt and use a common seal, and
break the same at their pleasure, and may do
and execute every other matter and thing by
the name aforesaid that they are authorized
to do by virtue of this act,
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the President
and Directors, after their election, as hereinbe-
fore provided for, shall have full power to re-
ceive additional subscriptions for the comple-

tors are hereby invested with all the rights and
powers necessary to the construction of said
road on the bed of the county road called the
"Liberty road," or which was formerly known
as the "Baltimore, Carroll and Liberty Turn-
pike Road," or as nearly as may be practicable
so to do, making an artificial bed of stone,
not less than sixteen feet in breadth.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the President
and Directors of said company shall have full

power to widen the said road whenever and
whereever it shall be found necessary and ex-
pedient for the construction of the same.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the Commis-
sioners of Carroll county be and they are

hereby authorized, in their discretion, to sub-
scribe for such number of shares as they may
deem expedient, not exceeding two hundred
and fifty, in the capital stock of the company
hereby incorporated.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That as soon as
the said company shall have completed three
miles of said road, and so on from time to
time a like distance of three miles, they shall
give notice to the County Commissioners of
Carroll county, who shall thereupon appoint
