CHAPTER 11.
AN ACT to add a section to article seventy-
nine of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Releases and Receipts/' to be desig-
nated section ten, providing for the releases
and receipts of women over the age of
eighteen years.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the following sec-

tion, to be designated section ten, be added to
article seventy-nine of the Code of Public
General Laws, title "Releases and Receipts.''
SEC. 10. The release or receipt of a woman
over the age of eighteen years to any person or
persons, body corporate or body politic for any
money paid, property, delivered or obligation

satisfied, shall be a good and valid discharge
of such person or persons, body corporate or
body politic, in the same manner and to the
same extent as releases or receipts of the same
character are now by law good and valid when
executed and delivered by persons of the full
age of twenty-one years.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 12.
AN ACT for the suppression of nuisances and
the better protection of the health of the
inhabitants of this State.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That whenever any wa-
ter-course, well, spring, open ditch, gutter, cess-
pool, drain, privy-pit, pig-pen or other place,
