JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

|
WHEREAS a large number of the best citizens of Cecil
|
|
|
|
and Kent counties of Maryland have, by their peti-
|
|
|
|
tion to this present general assembly, prayed the same
|
|
|
|
to ask the Congress of the United States to appropri-
|
|
|
|
ate a sufficient sum of money to have Sassafras river,
|
|
|
|
between said counties, surveyed, with reference to
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
widening and deepening the channel of said river
|
|
|
|
from the bridge at Georgetown to the village of Sassa-
|
|
|
|
fras, and the appropriation of a sum of money not
|
|
|
|
only for said survey, but also for the work necessary
|
|
|
|
to said widening and deepening, and representing to
|
|
|
|
said genera] assembly the large advantage which will
|
|
|
|
accrue to them and the surrounding counties; there-
|
|
|
|
fore —
|
|
|
|
Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Dele-
|
|
|
|
gates of Maryland, now in session at Annapolis, in
|
|
|
|
said State, That the senators and members of the
|
|
|
|
house of representatives of this state, now assembled
|
|
|
|
in Congress at Washington, are earnestly requested to
|
|
|

ask from the said Congress such appropriation as to
them shall seem just and proper for the necessary sur-
|
|
|
|
vey and costs to widen and deepen the channel of
|
|
|
|
Sassafras river, in this state, from the bridge at
|
|
|
|
Georgetown to the village of Sassafras, in Kent
|
|
|
|
county, sufficient in depth to allow the passage of the
|
|
|
|
ordinary vessels used in the navigation of said river.
