Chapter 454.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Turnpike
|
|
|
|
Companies to charge and collect toll for the use of
|
|
|
|
their roads by traction engines.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That the turnpike companies now ex-
|
|
|
|
isting in Washington county, and the turnpike com-
|
|
|
|
panies hereafter to be formed, shall be authorized and
|

empowered to charge and collect tolls on their respec-
|
traction engine

|
|
tive roads from any and all owners of or persons pass-
|
|
|
|
ing over said roads with engines propelled by steam,
|
|
|
|
the rates of toll not to exceed ten cents per mile for

|
|
|
the distance actually traveled for each engine.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

Chapter 455.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to repeal section eight Imndred and ten of
|
|
|
|
article four of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
|
|
|
|
" City of Baltimore," sub-title " Police," and to re-
|
|
|
|
enact the same with amendments.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 810. Be it enacted. That section eight hun-
|
|
|
|
dred and ten of article four of the Public Local Laws,
|
|
|
|
title " City of Baltimore," sub-title " Police," as re-
|

pealed and re-enacted by the act of eighteen hundred

re-enacted.

|
and seventy, chapter two hundred and eighty-seven,
|
|
|
|
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
|
|
|
|
with amendments, so as to read as follows :
|
|
|
|
SEC. 810. That the said board of police commis-
|
|
|
|
sioners be and they are hereby authorized and required,
|
|
|
|
immediately on entering on the duties of their office,
|
|
|
|
to appoint, enroll and employ a permanent police force
for the city of Baltimore, which they shall arm and
