of Maryland.


WHEREAS the Maryland Historical Society, acting


under authority of the act of assembly of eighteen


hundred and eight-two, chapter one hundred and


thirty-eight, has provided a fire-proof vault for the


safe-keeping of the archives and ancient documents

lished the first volume of the archives of Maryland ;


and whereas it is proper that the publication of


said archives be continued, with reasonable diligence


and care, under the direction of said society; there-
