AN ACT to repeal chapter one hundred and sixty-six
|
|
|
|
|
of the acts passed at the January session, eighteen
|
|
|
|
|
hundred and eighty-two, entitled "An act to author-
|
|
|
|
|
ize the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Dorchester
|
|
|
|
|
county to make a general index of all the land
|
|
|
|
|
records of his office," and to re-enact the following
|
|
|
|
|
in lieu thereof:
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
|
cf Maryland, That chapter one hundred and sixty-six
|
|
|
|
|
of the acts passed at the January session, eighteen
|
|
|
|

following enacted in lieu thereof:

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the clerk of the
|
|
|
|
|
circuit court for Dorchester county be and is hereby
|
|
|
|
|
authorized and required, under the supervision of the
|
|
|
|

resident judge of said court, to make or have made a

|

general index of all the land records of his office, and
|
|
|
|
|
to provide a book or books proper and requisite for
|
|
|
|
|
such purpose.

|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the county com-
|
|
|
|
|
missioners of Dorchester county be and they are here-
|
|
|
|
|
by required to levy upon the assessable property of
said county, a sum sufficient to pay the said clerk the
|
|
|
|
|
cost of the books aforesaid, and also nine cents for in-
|
|
|
|
|
dexing each deed, mortgage or other instrument re-

name of the grantor and grantees, for the year eigh-
|
|
|
|
|
teen hundred and eighteen, and the years subsequent
|
|
|

thereto, and the sum of ten cents for indexing in like

manner all such instruments recorded in said laud

|
|
|
records previous to the year eighteen hundred and
|
|
|
|
|
eighteen.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the clerk aforesaid
|
|
|
|

shall make out from time to time, as may be neces-
