Chapter 338.


AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of


Queen Anne's county to levy a sum of money as a


pension for Solomon Tate, of said county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly


of Maryland, That the county commissioners of Queen


Anne's county be and they are hereby authorized, in

Levy for pen-
sion.

their discretion, to levy upon the assessable property


of said county, annually, as a pension for Solomon Tate,


of said county.

Chapter 339.


AN ACT to cede the United State of America a plat


of ground in the State House Circle at Annapolis,


Maryland, for the purpose of erecting thereupon a


monument in memory of Baron DeKalb.


WHEREAS the Congress of the United States, by


an act approved February the nineteenth, eighteen


hundred and eighty-three, resolved that a monument


be erected to the memory of the late Major General,


the Baron DeKalb, in the city of Annapolis, and the


said act empowers the secretary of state of the United


States to have the management and control of the


erection of the said monument; and whereas the secre-


tary of state of the United States has selected a spot in

Preamble.

the grounds attached to St. John's College, in the city


of Annapolis, upon which to erect the said monument,


the General Assembly of Maryland hereby expresses


its wish that the said monument be erected in the


grounds attached to the State House, and known as


the State House Circle, in the city of Annapolis, and


the secretary of the state of the United States having


decided to require the cession to the United States of


America of a plat of ground twenty-four feet square,


therefore —
