and other registration books or lists used at the last


general election for said districts shall be used by said


judges to determine the qualification of voters; pro-
vided further, that for district number one, or the


Fork, the voters shall reside within that part of said


district number one, or the Fork included within this


act, and the judges of election, or a majority of


them, shall be satisfied that said voters reside within


eaid territory, either from their own knowledge or from


satisfactory evidence furnished by parties offering to

vote; and the sheriff of Dorchester county shall give


at least ten days' notice of said elections as to the time


and place of holding the same by advertisement in two


newspapers published in said county, and he shall


furnish the said judges of election -with the necessary


poll books and registration lists, the same to be made


out by the clerk of the circuit court for Dorchester


county from the registration books for said districts


numbers one and twelve aforesaid now in his office ;


and at said elections the ballots shall have written on


or printed upon them the words " For the stock law,"


or " Against the stock law," and if it shall be ascer-


tained and returned to the clerk of said circuit court


by the judges of said elections that a majority of said


votes were cast for the " stock law " in either or both
