for such violation may be committed to the Town Jail or
to the County Jail until the same be paid. The Council is
authorized and empowered to appoint some Justice of the
Peace resident in North Beach to be Police Magistrate for
said Town and contract with him with respect to his com-
pensation in lieu of the fees now provided for by law, pro-
vided that if no such Police Magistrate be appointed or if
he shall be absent or unable to act then his duty may be
performed by the Mayor or any Justice of the Peace of
Calvert County.

214. The Council, acting through the Mayor, shall
have the power at any time to suspend, remit or release
the said fines, penalties or forfeitures and costs, or any
part thereof at discretion.

215. The Council may provide by ordinance for the
issuance by the Mayor or Police Magistrate of search war-
rants when such Mayor or Magistrate shall be satisfied by
affidavit or otherwise that ordinance of the Council or law
of this State shall have been violated by the person or on
the premises to be searched.

216. Any party subjected to a fine, penalty or for-
feiture by virtue of any of the provisions of this Act, or
any ordinance pursuant thereto, shall have the right to
appeal, except as otherwise herein specifically provided,
within thirty days thereafter to the Circuit Court of Cal-
vert County, and shall have the right, if he so elect, to a
trial by jury, upon giving ample security for the payment
of such fine, penalty, forfeiture and costs as may be ad-
judged against him in said Circuit Court; provided that
when any fine is collected because of the violation of any
ordinance of North Beach, it shall be forthwith trans-
mitted by the officer collecting the same to the Treasurer
of North Beach.

217. All ordinances of the Council shall take effect
from the date of passage unless otherwise provided therein.
The Clerk shall post a copy of each ordinance at the Town
Hall and all ordinances shall be open to public inspection.

218. All elections conducted under the provisions of
this sub-title shall be subject to the provisions of the Cor-
rupt Practices Act of Maryland, in so far as the same may
be applicable to the provisions of this sub-title.
