The instrument whereby said property and right of
way is granted and conveyed unto the United States of
America shall provide that the land in question shall be
used for the construction of an experiment station by the
United States Bureau of Mines. Said deed shall be exe-
cuted by the Governor of the State of Maryland for and,
on behalf of the State of Maryland, attested by the Sec-
retary of State of the State of Maryland, and the Secre-
tary of State of the State of Maryland shall attach the
Great Seal of the State of Maryland thereto.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1933.

CHAPTER 444.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact Sections 239 and 240 of
Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, 1930 Edition, entitled "Montgomery County, "
sub-title "County Commissioners and Treasurer, " sub-
heading "Social Welfare Work, " and to add two addi-
tional sections, said new sections to be known as Sec-
tions 240A and 240B of said Article, and to repeal
Sections 3 of Chapter 478 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1931, so as to authorize the
County Commissioners of Montgomery County to levy
taxes for charitable and social relief purposes and to
authorize the use of existing agencies for carrying out
charitable and social relief functions, and to authorize
the consolidation of such functions in a single agency
to be designated or established by said County Com-
missioners, and to validate any appropriation hereto-
fore made by the County Commissioners.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 239 and 240 of Article 16 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition)
entitled "Montgomery County, " sub-titled "County Com-
missioners, " sub-heading "Social Welfare Work, " be and
the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, and that
two new sections be added, said new sections to be
known as Section 240A and 240B of said Article 16,
and to read as follows:
