800 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 439

Prince George's County Police, at a salary of six-
teen hundred and twenty dollars ($1, 620. 00) per an-
num each, payable in equal monthly instalments, and
no other fees or compensation whatsoever, except that
in addition to the salary aforesaid, the said Com-
missioners are authorized to allow each of the said
Sergeants of Police the sum of three hundred ($300. 00)
per annum, payable in equal monthly instalments,
for maintenance and upkeep of an automobile to be
used by each of the said Sergeants of Police and any
expenses for uniforms to be worn, as the County Com-
missioners may from time to time prescribe or ordain.

6. The other Constables at Large, and so appointed,
shall each receive a salary of thirteen hundred and fifty
dollars ($1, 350. 00) per annum, payable in equal monthly
instalments, and no other fees or compensation what-
soever, except, however, that in addition to the sal-
ary aforesaid, those so appointed, shall receive the
sum of three hundred dollars ($300. 00) per annum,
payable in equal monthly instalments, in lieu of all
other expenses to the county for the maintenance and
upkeep of a motorcycle or other motor vehicle to be
furnished by the County Commissioners in such number
as in their discretion may be necessary, as well as any
expenses for uniforms, to be worn by them, as may be
required by the County Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all of the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
