as Treasurer of the said town, subject to the confirmation
of the City Council, who shall possess the same qualifica-
tions as those required for Mayor, to serve for two years
and until his successor is appointed and qualified, whose
duty it shall be to keep an account of the receipts and dis-
bursements of the town in a well-bound book, to be provided
by the Mayor and City Council, and render an account
thereof at each regular meeting of the City Council. Such
account shall include a statement of each check issued by
him, the name of the payee, the amount, and the fund to
which it is charged. The said Treasurer shall qualify on or
before the first Monday in May succeeding his appoint-
ment, by filing a bond with some reputable bonding com-
pany as surety in such form and in such amount as the
Mayor and City Council shall prescribe and approve.

He shall receive a salary of two hundred dollars per an-
num.

COLLECTOR.

653. The Mayor shall on the fourth Monday of April,
1934, and every two years thereafter, appoint one person
as collector of the said town, subject to the confirmation
of the City Council, to serve for two years and until his
successor is appointed and qualified, who shall be the col-
lector of all taxes and assessments, including water rent,
and all other money payable to the town. He shall qualify
on or before the first Monday in May succeeding his ap-
pointment, by filing a bond with some reputable bonding
company as surety, in such form and for such amount as
the Mayor and City Council shall prescribe. The said Col-
lector shall keep a detailed account of all moneys received
for the Mayor and City Council, in a well-bound book to be
provided by the said Mayor and City Council; turn over
all moneys so received to the Treasurer at least once a
month, with a statement from whom it was received and
what it represents; and he shall also make monthly reports
to the City Council at its regular meetings. He shall receive
as salary not more than five hundred dollars per year, pay-
able in monthly installments, and shall also receive a com-
mission of two per cent, on all taxes and assessments col-
lected, including the collection of water rent.

654. The Collector shall also act as investigator of all
complaints in connection with the operation of the town,
and for that purpose he shall maintain an office, with a
telephone, either at his residence or at such place as the
Mayor and City Council shall designate, and shall be
