annum unless otherwise changed by the Mayor and City
Council, and shall not be increased in any event to more
than one hundred ($100: 00) dollars, but the salary of no
Mayor shall be either increased or diminished during his
term of office.

603. The City Councilmen of said town shall be per-
sons of known integrity, experience and sound judgment,
not less than twenty-five years of age, not less than ten
years citizens of the United States and residents of said
town for two years next preceding their election, who have
been assessed upon the assessment books of said town for
the year prior to their election for not less than one hun-
dred dollars, and who have paid prior to their election the
taxes due thereon for said year. Each of said Councilmen
shall hold his office for two years from the fourth Monday
in April of the year of his election and until the qualifica-
tion of his successor. The salary of each of said Council-
man shall be one dollar for each regular and special meeting
attended by him unless the same shall be changed by the
Mayor and City Council, but the salary of no Councilman
shall be increased or diminished during his term of office.

ELECTIONS.

604. All citizens of the United States above the age
of twenty-one years who shall have actually resided in
the said town of Laurel not less than one year preceding
an election for Mayor and City Councilmen of said town,
and whose names shall appear upon the books of registered
voters as hereinafter provided, shall be qualified voters of
said town, and as such shall be entitled to vote at any elec-
tion held under the provisions of this Act.

And the said qualified voters shall on the third Monday
in April, 1934, and every two years thereafter, at
such centrally located place within the said town of Laurel,
as the Mayor and City Council may designate, vote for one
person as Mayor of the said town of Laurel, to serve for
two years from the fourth Monday in April, 1934,
and until the qualification of his successor; and the said
voters shall also on the said third Monday in April,
1934, and every two years thereafter, vote for five persons
as members of the City Council of Laurel, to serve for
two years and until their successors shall have qualified,
two of whom shall be chosen from the said town at large,
but both of whom shall not come from any one ward, and
one from each of the three wards in said town, the repre-
