317Z. The provisions of the Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland now in force or hereafter enacted ap-
plicable to the collection of State and County taxes, except
when the same are repealed by or are inconsistent with
the provisions of this Act, shall be held to apply to the
"Town Clerk, Treasurer and Collector of Princess Anne, "
who, as to power, rights, duties and liabilities, both civil
and criminal, and those affecting his bondsmen shall be in
all respects in the same position as State and County Col-
lectors of taxes, except as herein provided.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
not take effect until it has first been submitted to the reg-
istered voters of the town of Princess Anne at a special
election to be held in said town on the first Tuesday after
the first Monday in June, 1933, and has been approved by
a majority of the voters voting thereon. The said election
shall be held and conducted in accordance with the laws,
ordinances and regulations for holding town elections in
so far as same may be applicable. The President and Com-
missioners of Princess Anne shall give notice of said special
election and of the question to be voted upon by posting
same in at least five of the most public places in said town
at least one week before said election, the notice to give the
date, the hours the polls will remain open and the location
of the polling place or places. There shall be printed on
the ballots for said election the words "For Town Clerk,
Treasurer and Collector" and "Against Town Clerk, Treas-
urer and Collector, " with squares opposite each for voters
to indicate Choice.

On the closing of the polls, the ballots shall be counted
and canvassed in the usual manner, and the persons or offi-
cials making said canvass shall publicly announce the result
of said canvass. In the event that a majority of the votes
cast are "For Town Clerk, Treasurer and Collector, " this
Act shall immediately become effective, and in the event a
majority of said votes are "Against Town Clerk, Treasurer
and Collector, " this Act shall be null and void and of no
effect whatsoever.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.
