SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect

CHAPTER 186.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
68 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Public Education, " sub-title
"Chapter 5. District School Trustees" (as said section
was amended by Chapter 79 of the Acts of 1931), to au-
thorize the use of public school houses for Grange
meetings.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 68 of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Public Educa-
tion, " sub-title "Chapter 5. District School Trustees" (as
said section was amended by Chapter 79 of the Acts of
1931), be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:
68. The County School Superintendents of Maryland
be, and they are hereby authorized to enlarge the useful-
ness and increase the efficiency of public school property
by allowing the use of public school houses for farmers'
meetings, Grange meetings, public speakings, lectures, en-
tertainments, church festivals, Red Cross meetings, Y. M.
C. A. meetings, meetings and entertainments of the Amer-
ican Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, United Spanish-
American War Veterans and other regularly incorporated
and recognized veterans' associations, and for any other
purposes which are for the civic welfare.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.
