his name, residence, age, the length of time he has lived
in the town, the office which he seeks, a reference to the
title of the real estate in assessed value of five hundred
dollars ($500. 00) claimed to be owned, and such petition
shall be signed by at least ten qualified voters and in case
of a candidate for Councilman the voters signing the said
petition shall reside within the limits of the ward for which
he is a candidate.

A certificate in the following form shall be sufficient:

To the Supervisors of Election of Chestertown, Maryland,
I hereby request that you print my name on the official
ballot in the town election to be held
as candidate for _ and I do hereby
certify that my name is _ _ _ _ _ _;

I am. years old; I am a resident of the _
ward; and have lived in the town for - - years;
and I am the owner of real estate in Said town in my own
name to the amount of $500. 00 as per deed recorded in
Liber _ No. - _, folio _, one of the
Land Records of Kent County, Maryland.

We, the undersigned, qualified electors request the
candidacy of

Immediately after the filing of the petition by the re-
spective candidates, the Supervisors of Election shall make
up the official ballot from the names of the qualified candi-
dates submitted to them and no names shall be printed
upon said ballot by said supervisors except such as shall
be presented to them by petition as above set out.

A facsimile of the official ballot shall be published in one
or more newspapers published in the Town of Chester-
town, at least once before election. The official ballot shall
be of substantial plain paper of uniform size, not less
than four inches wide, and upon such ballot shall appear
the name or names of all candidates for Mayor arranged
alphabetically, and immediately following the word "For
Mayor" which shall be printed on said ballot, and preced-
ing the names of the candidates shall be printed in black
ink "Vote for one by marking a cross (X) mark on that
space which is opposite the name of the candidate to be
voted for, " and a black line shall be printed immediately
under the name of each candidate extending to a square
opposite the name of the candidate, and immediately fol-
