to follow immediately after Section 149 of said Article,
authorizing and empowering the County Commissioners
of Washington County to borrow not to exceed Three
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300, 000) in any one year
for the current expenses of the County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Washington County, " sub-title
"County Commissioners, " said new section to be known as
Section 149A, to follow immediately after Section 149 of
said Article, and to read as follows:

149A. Whenever the amount of taxes collected in
Washington County shall be insufficient to meet the cur-
rent expenses, the County Commissioners of Washington
County are hereby authorized and empowered to borrow
on the faith and credit of Washington County to meet the
current expenses of said County, for a period of time not
to exceed six (6) months, a sum or sums of money not to
exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300, 000), in
the aggregate in any one year, and to issue for said in-
debtedness the note or notes of the County Commissioners
of Washington County, said note or notes to be signed by
the President of the County Commissioners of Washing-
ton County, and countersigned by the Clerk of the County
Commissioners of Washington County, and to bear interest
from the date of their issuance.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
