ficulty or unwarranted hardship and where the circum-
stances of the case do not require the structure to be re-
lated to existing or proposed streets or highways, the ap-
plicant for such a permit may appeal from the decision of
the administrative officer having charge of the issue of
permits to the Board of Appeals. The board may in pass-
ing on such appeal make any reasonable exception and issue
the permit subject to conditions that will protect any future
street or highway layout. Any such decision shall be sub-
ject to review by certiorari order issued out of a court of
record in the same manner and pursuant to the same pro-
visions as in appeals from the decisions of such board upon
zoning regulations.
TITLE V. GENERAL PROVISIONS.
SEC. 25. ENFORCEMENT AND REMEDIES. The council
may provide by ordinance for the enforcement of this Act
and of any ordinance or regulation made thereunder. A
violation of this Act or of such ordinance or regulation is
hereby declared to be a niisdemeanor, and such local legis-
lative body may provide for the punishment thereof by fine
or imprisonment or both. It is also empowered to pro-
vide civil penalties for such violation.
In case any building or structure is erected, constructed,
reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted, or maintained,
or any building, structure, or land is used in violation of
this Act or of any ordinance or other regulations made
under authority conferred hereby, the proper local authori-
ties of the municipality, in addition to other remedies, may
institute any appropriate action or proceeding to prevent
such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, altera-
tion, repair, conversion, maintenance, or use, to restrain,
correct or abate such violation, to prevent the occupancy
of said building, structure, or land, or to prevent any illegal
act, conduct, business, or use in or about such premises.
SEC. 26. CONFLICT WITH OTHER LAWS. Wherever the
regulations made under authority of this Act require a
greater width or size of yards, courts, or other open spaces,
or require a lower height of building or less number of
stories, or require a greater percentage of lot to be left
unoccupied or impose other higher standards than are re-
quired in any other statute or local ordinance or regula-
tions, the provisions of the regulations made under author-
ity of this Act shall govern. Wherever the provisions of
any other statute or local ordinance or regulation require
