in Offutt's Revised Code of the Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County, edition of 1929, title No. 25, "Fire
Department, " (Flack's Code, 1930, Article 3, Sec. 252),
as repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, by Chapter
274, Acts, 1931, so as to limit pensions in the Fire De-
partment to fire fighters and operators of fire fighting
machinery.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 252 of the Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (as enacted by Sec. 2161, Chapter 290,
Acts, 1922), codified in Offutt's Revised Code of the Public
Local Laws of Baltimore County, edition of 1929, title No.
25, "Fire Department, " (Flack's Code, 1930, Article 3, Sec.
252), as repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, by
Chapter 274, Acts, 1931, be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as follows:

Section 252. Any permanent member of the Fire De-
partment of Baltimore County, including the Chief Engi-
neer, who shall perform faithful service in the Department
for a period of not less than twenty consecutive years, may,
by the County Commissioners of Baltimore County, be re-
tired at that time, and such members shall be placed upon
the pension roll as provided in Section 245 of this Article
and entitled to all the benefits therefrom as therein pro-
vided for. All members of the department, including the
Chief Engineer, shall for the purposes of this section be
credited with all the time they may have served in the de-
partment prior to the passage of this Act. The retirement
and pensioning provisions effective as to the Baltimore
County Fire Department shall apply only to the Chief En-
gineer, his assistants, and members of said department en-
gaged for actual fire fighting duty or for the operation of
fire fighting machinery in actual service, and to no other
person or persons whatsoever.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on and after the first day of June, 1933.
