1062 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 555

"Licenses, " sub-title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-heading
"Brakes, Bells, Lights and Mufflers, " providing penalty
for violation of law relating to smoke screens.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sub-Section (4B) of Section 193 of Article
56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1929 Supplement),
title "Licenses, " sub-title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-heading
"Brakes, Bells, Lights and Mufflers, " be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read as
follows:

(4B) Smoke Screen. No motor vehicle of any kind
shall at any time, whether in use or not in use, carry or be
equipped with any device, designed, constructed or intended
to be used for the purpose of emitting or laying down a
smoke screen or emitting or discharging any screen of
vapors, gases, fumes or substances of any kind, and it shall
be unlawful for any such device, or part of such device,
whether in operating condition or not, to be attached to
any motor vehicle. Any person violating any of the pro-
visions of this sub-section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by im-
prisonment in the House of Correction for a term of not
more than one year or be fined not less than $25. 00 nor
more than $500, or both, in the discretion of the Court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1933.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 803, 804 and 805 of Article 22
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Washington County, " sub-title "Tax Col-
lector, " abolishing the office of Tax Collector, and to
enact in lieu thereof three new sections, said new sec-
tions to be under sub-title "County Treasurer, " and to
be known as Sections 803, 804 and 805 of said Article,
creating the office of County Treasurer for Washington
County, providing for the election and appointment
thereof, prescribing his salary and defining the duties
