1038 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 545

County Commissioners are hereby directed to levy a tax at
the next period for levying county taxes at a rate sufficient
to provide for the payment of the principal and interest for
all of said outstanding notes or certificates of indebtedness.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is de-
clared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
being passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 545.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
89 and 90 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County, "
sub-title "County Treasurer, " and to add a new section
to be known as Section 90A, and to follow immediately
after Section 90 of said Article, authorizing the appoint-
ment of an assistant treasurer who shall be paid from
the salary of the treasurer; fixing the salary of the
treasurer, and providing that the County Commissioners
in their annual levy shall levy a sum of money sufficient
to pay the premiums on the bonds of the treasurer and
assistant treasurer.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 89 and 90 of Article 9 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Charles County, " sub-title "County Treasurer, " be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments,
and that a new section be and it is hereby added to said
Article, said new section to be known as Section 90A, to
follow immediately after Section 90 of said Article, and all
to read as follows:

89. The said treasurer may appoint some person resi-
dent in said county to be assistant treasurer, who shall be
authorized to act in his place and for whose acts he shall
be responsible, and who shall give such bond, conditioned
