Adjustment
of losses.

19. That in case of any destruction by fire par-
tial or total the loss shall be adjusted by mutual
agreement, or shall be determined by assessors ap-
pointed as follows; the insured shall select one dis-
interested person, and the company shall select
another and should these two persons disagree in
the valuation of a loss, they shall select another
umpire whose award shall be final.

When to
take effect.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect when the same is accepted by a majority
in interest of the stockholders. of said company, re-
presented in person or by proxy at a meeting to
take place after notice given by the President and
Directors for ten days at least in two or more daily
newspapers of the City of Baltimore, stating the ob-
ject of said meeting to be the consideration of accep-
tance of this act, and when accepted to take effect
immediately thereafter.

Reservation.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That the General
Assembly reserve to itself the right to alter, amend
or repeal this act at pleasure.

AN ACT to incorporate the Insulated Lines Tele-
graph Company.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Insulated Lines Telegraph
Company, a corporation duly organized under the
laws of the State of New York, in the year one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, is hereby
incorporated, constituted and made a body politic
and corporate, by the name of the Insulated Lines
Telegraph Company, for the purpose of erecting
and maintaining lines of telegraph through this
State, to connect the cities of Washington, Balti-
more, Philadelphia, Boston and other places in the
United States, upon such terms and conditions and
subject to the liabilities contained in this act.
