Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 17.

 

AN ACT to incorporate the Baltimore File Com-
pany.

2T, 1866.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William McKim, Edwin. L.
Parker, John L. Weeks, John Coates and Charles
E. Waters, and all and every person or persons,
who with them or instead shall hereafter become
associated with them, their successors and assigns,
shall be and are hereby created and declared to be a
body corporate and politic by the name and style of
the " Baltimore File Company, " and by that name
shall and may have perpetual succession, and be
capable in law of purchasing, holding, improving
and disposing of property, real, personal and
mixed, for the purpose herein authorized, and may
sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer
and defend, in all courts of law and equity, and
may make, execute and deliver, or have or cause to
be made, executed and delivered to them, all deeds,
transfers, grants, covenants, contracts, agreements
and bargains whatsoever, necessary for the pur-
poses and objects of said Company, and may have
and use a common seal, which they shall have
power to alter or renew at pleasure, and generally
to do every other act, or thing necessary to carry
into effect the objects and provisions of this Act, not
inconsistent with1 the laws of this State or of the
United States, and to ordain and establish such
by-laws and regulations as they shall deem neces-
sary, proper or convenient for conducting the affairs
of the corporation hereby enacted.

Incorporated.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the objects of
this corporation are declared to be the manufac-
turing of files, rasps, and other articles denomi-
