hereby empowered to administer an oath or affir-
mation to any account to any person presenting a
claim to the commissioners, against the county;
but, said Clerk shall not administer such oath
or affirmation in any other place than in his office,
and he shall he allowed the usual fee of a Justice
of the Peace for the same services.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

operative Store of Cumberland, in Allegany
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Thomas M. Smith, Charles
Weiskettle, H. W. Shuck, Thomas L. Judy, J. F.
Anderson, William J. Taylor, R. J. Sibley,
Charles A. Albright and William B. Getchell,
be, and they hereby are appointed commissioners
to take subscriptions to the capital stock of the
Workingmen's Co-operative Store of Cumberland,

hereby incorporated; and they or a majority of
them, may cause books to be opened at such times
and places, and for such period or periods, and with
such notice as they may deem expedient, and may
re-open the same from time to time for the purpose

resign or refuse to serve, another or others may be
