AN ACT to authorize William H. Downs, of
Anne Arundel county, to act in the double
capacity of Justice of the Peace and Assistant
Assessor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William H. Downs, of Anne
Arundel County, be, and he is hereby authorized
to act in the double capacity of Justice of the Peace
and Assistant Assessor, in said county.

Sec. 2 And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 134.

AN ACT to regulate and make uniform the com-
pensation of County Commissioners.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That all the sections of the several
articles of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating
to the pay and mileage of the County Commission-
ers of the several counties of this State, be, and the
same are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2, And be it enacted, That the following
section be added to the twenty-eighth article of the
Code of Public General Laws entitled, "County
Comisioners, " and to follow section one hundred
and one of said article:

The County Commissioners of the several
counties shall each receive the sum of three dollars
per day for each day they shall be engaged in the
discharge of their duties, and mileage at the rato
of ten cents for every mile over five miles from
their place of residence.
