but in all other respects said supplement is hereby
confirmed, except as provided in the first section of
this supplement, in regard to the change of name.

AN ACT to incorporate the Merchants Steamship
Line.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That John W. Ross, William W.
Watkins, Robert Fowler, Michael H. Hooper and
John O. Reid, and their associates, successors and
assigns, be and they are hereby created and made
a body corporate by the name and style of the
Merchants Steamship line, and by that name shall
have succession, and shall be capable in law to hold
and dispose of property, to sue and be sued, to
plead and be impleaded, answer and defend, and
be answered and defended, in any court of law or
equity, and in other place whatsoever, to receive
and mate deeds and contracts, to make, have
and use a common seal, and the same to change,
alter or renew at pleasure, and generally to pass
all such by-laws as may be necessary to regulate
its affairs, and to do all such acts as shall be proper
and necessary for the purpose of establishing a line
or lines of steamboats or other vessels, for the
conveyance of passengers and the transportation
of goods, wares and merchandise from the city of
Baltimore to the cities of Philadelphia and New
York, and from the said city of Baltimore to any
other place or places, the said corporation may
deem expedient.

Capital stock

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital
stock of said corporation, shall be divided into
