Baltimore, be and they are hereby authorized and
empowered to subscribe to the capital stock of the
Western Maryland Railroad Company, to an
amount not exceeding two hundred thousand dol-
lars.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Mayor
and City Council may provide, by ordinance or
ordinances, for the mode and terms upon which
subscription shall be made, and the money provid-
ed to meet it.

AN ACT to incorporate the Baltimore and Savan-
nah Steamship Company.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Jacob Brandt, Jr., Robert
Lehr, Henry R. Hazelhurst, Daniel Wiegand,
Thomas G. Jenkins, William S. Rayner and others,
their successors and assigns, be, and they are here-
by created and made a corporation and body poli-
tic, by the name and title of the Baltimore and
Savannah Steamship Company, and by that name
and title shall have succession and shall be capable
in law to sue and be sued in any court of law or
equity; to have and use a common seal, and to
alter the same when deemed expedient; and gen-
erally to do all such acts as shall be proper and
necessary for the purpose of employing one or more
steamships to navigate the Chesapeake, its tribu-
taries and the Atlantic coast, for the conveyance of
passengers, towing of vessels and the transporta-
tion of merchandise or other articles.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of the said company shall be one hundred and
thirty thousand dollars, divided into shares of one
