CHAPTER 108.
AN ACT to repeal sections two and three of an
act passed at January session, eighteen hundred
and sixty-live, chapter forty-nine, entitled, an
Act to amend an Act entitled, an Act to aid and
encourage enlistments into the Maryland regi-
ments in service of the United States, passed
eighteen hundred and sixty-four, chapter fifteen,
and to provide for the prompt payment of the
bounties therein specified, and to repeal section
lour of said Act, and to re-enact the same so as
to make the bounties therein specified, payable
to the widows and heirs of deceased soldiers, and
to re-enact and amend the same.

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, Under sections two and three of the
Act of eighteen hundred and sixty-five, chapter
forty-nine, a certificate is required in the case of
negroes from the United States Board of Claims,
heretofore in session in the city of Baltimore, in
addition to the evidence required in the case of
white volunteers, from the Acting Assistant Pro-
vost Marshal General, for Maryland, or from any
other duly authorized officer of the United States,
certifying that such persons were credited upon
the quota of this State to enable the Treasurer to
pay them the State Bounty due them by virtue of
their enlistment and accreditment to the quota of
this State; and whereas, The said United States
Board of Claims has been dissolved by order of the
Secretary of War; Therefore,

Repealed.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That sections two and three of an
act passed at January session eighteen hundred and
sixty-live, chapter forty-nine, entitled, an Act to
amend an Act entitled, an Act to aid and encourage
enlistments into the Maryland regiments in service
if the United States, parsed eighteen hundred and
sixty-four, chapter fifteen, and to provide for the
prompt payment of the bounties therein specified,
and to repeal section four of said Act, and to re-
enact the same so as to make the bounties therein
specified, payable to the widows and heirs of de-
ceased soldiers, be and the same are hereby repeal-
