amendatory act be, and the same is hereby re-
pealed.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

 

CHAPTER 65.

AN ACT to incorporate the Cherrystone Steam
Navigation Company.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Moor N. Falls, William H.
Kimberly, James M. Hunt, Nathaniel McKay and
others, their successors and assigns, be, and they
are hereby created and made a corporate and body
politic,, by the name and title of the Cherrystone
Steam Navigation Company, and by that name
and title shall have perpetual succession, and
shall be capable in law to sue and be sued in any
court of law or equity, to have and use a common
seal, and to alter the same when deemed expedi-
ent, and generally to do all such acts as shall be
proper and necessary for the purpose of employing
one or more steamboats, to navigate the waters of
Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, and to con-
nect thereto boats, vessels, stages or other car-
riages, for the conveyance of passengers, towing of
ships, vessels, rafts or arks, and the transportation
of merchandise or other articles.

Capital stock.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said company shall be one hundred and fifty
thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of one
hundred dollars each, to be subscribed for or dis-
posed of from time to time, in such manner as the
by-laws or resolutions made in pursuance of this
charter shall provide; and it shall be lawful for
said company hereby created, to enlarge its capital

when necessary, for the purpose of increasing its
business; provided, it shall not exceed three hun-
dred thousand dollars.
