or neglect to pay the amount by him or it sub-
scribed, the said company may maintain an action
therefor and recover the amount thereof with
interest from the time when such failure or neglect
occurred, and the said company shall and may
employ all such officers, agents or servants, as may
be deemed necessary, either in making said road,
or in the repair and management thereof, after the
same shall have been made, and the said President
and Directors shall annually, or oftener if they
shall deem it advisable, make amongst the stock-
holders of said company, a dividend of all moneys
received by them for tolls, after spending so much
thereof in repairs as may be necessary and proper
to keep the said road in good order and condition.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Pocahontas Manufac-
turing Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William T. Slothower, George
Slothower, George W. Hopper, Morris P. Slothower,
John Tilson and George Younger, their associates
successors and assigns are hereby made and de-
clared to be a body corporate, by the name of the
"Pocahontas Manufacturing Company, " and by
that name may sue and be sued in any court of
law or equity, and may make and use a common
seal, and alter the same at pleasure; and may have
and use all the rights, powers and privileges neces-
sary or proper for manufacturing cotton, wool, flax,
hemp, jute, iron and other articles, and for vend-
ing the same when made, and may purchase, hold
and use real and personal estate, and construct,
such buildings and improvements on their lands as
