SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration shall be capable of taking and holding real
and personal estate not exceeding in value the
sum of twenty thousand dollars.

Power to
make by-
laws.
Proviso.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said corporation
shall have power to make by-laws for its govern-
ment, and to alter or amend the same at pleasure;
provided; they do not conflict with the constitution
and laws of the United States, or of the State of
Maryland, or the laws of the Grand Lodge of
Maryland.

Not to exer-
cise banking
privileges.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this corporation
shall not be permitted to issue any note, token, de-
vice or scrip, or other evidence of debt to be used
as a currency.
|
In force.
|
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, and con-
tinue in force for fifty years, and that the General
Assembly reserves to itself the right to alter or
amend the same at pleasure.

AN ACT to incorporate the Southern Fast Freight
Line.

Incorporated.
|
SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That James G. Clark, George Small,
William H. Trego, Thomas M. Wolfe, Zepheniah
Poteet, E. G. Sinyser, Robert L. Owens and their
associates, successors and assigns who may here-
after become subscribers or stockholders, be and
they are hereby created, constituted and made a
body politic and corporate, under the name and
style of the Southern Fast Freight Line, and by
