to the sale of the entire real estate, the Orphans'

the same to be sold free from any claim of dower,

Chapter 482.

 

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to refund

 

to Philip Loessell the amount of fine and costs

 

paid by him for alleged violation of the oyster

 

law.

 

WHEREAS, on the eleventh day of January,

 

eighteen hundred and eighty-one, Captain John

 

Downey and crew, consisting of seven men in all,

 

of pungy William D. Howeth, licensed vessel 490,

 

were arrested and were each fined fifty dollars and

 

costs, amounting in the aggregate to three hun-

 

dred and eighty-eight dollars and forty cents, and

 

were committed to jail, and the pungy, of which

Preamble.

Philip Loessell, of Baltimore city, was the owner,

 

was held as security for the payment therefor;

 

that said Philip Loessell was compelled to borrow

 

the money, being a poor man, to pay said fine and

 

costs to secure the release of his boat, though he

 

had ordered the captain to rigidly observe the

 

State laws, and had especially instructed him not

 

to dredge on forbidden grounds; that believing he

 

ought not to be held responsible for the guilt or
