Chapter 433.

|
AN ACT to authorize and empower " The Com-
|
 
|
|
missioners of Centreville," in Queen Anne's
|
 
|
|
county, Maryland, to acquire and hold six acres
|
 
|
|
of land for the benefit of said town.
|
 
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
 
|
|
of Maryland, That " The Commissioners of Cen-
|
 
|
|
treville," in Queen Anne's county, Maryland, and
|
 
|
|
their successors in office, be and they are hereby
|

authorized and empowered to purchase, or other-
|
acquire.

|
wise acquire, and hold, a lot of land, not exceed-
|
 
|
|
ing six acres in quantity, for the use and benefit
|
 
|
|
of said town, in addition to the lands now held
|
 
|
|
by them.
|
 
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in case the said
|
 
|
|
commissioners and the owner or owners of the
|
 
|
|
land desired for the use and benefit of said town
|
 
|
|
cannot agree as to the price therefor and for the
|
 
|
|
purchase thereof, or if the owners thereof, or any of
|
 
|
|
them, be feme covert, under twenty-one years of
|

age, non compos mentis, or for any cause are incapa-

ble, of granting a good title to said land, the said
|
 
|
|
commissioners may apply, by petition, in writing,
|
 
|
|
to the Circuit Court for Queen Anne's county, to
|
 
|
|
have the land described in said petition (which
|
 
|
|
shall not exceed six acres in quantity) condemned
|
 
|
|
for the use and benefit of said town, which said
|
 
|
|
petition shall state the bounds and quantity of
|
 
|
|
the land for which condemnation is sought, the
|
 
|
|
purpose for which said land is desired, and the
|
 
|
|
name, age and residence of the owners, and
|
 
|
|
whether they are married or single, compos mentis,
|

|
affidavit of one or more of the petitioners that the
|
 
|
|
statements therein made are true to the best of
|
 
|
|
his knowledge and belief.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That immediately upon
|
 
|
|
the filing of said petition with the clerk of said
|
 
|
|
court, the said clerk shall give notice of the sub-
|
 
|
|
stance and object of said petition by printed no-
